Looking for Delightful Ways to Ring in this New Year's?
Eating gluten-free may require a little extra thought and planning, but it doesn't mean you can't celebrate with the best of them. This New Year's should be a time of joy, laughter and celebration, not sitting on the sidelines. We've gathered together some of our favorite, most indulgent treats to help you celebrate safely this year!
Here are some of our favorite New Year's treats:
Champagne: If you are old enough to partake, a bit of bubbly is perfectly safe for people who have celiac disease or gluten intolerance. And if you still swoon over pink champagne--very An Affair to Remember-- try adding thawed frozen berries or some pomogranate juice. Our mouths are still watering over Simply Gluten-Free's Pomosa Recipe! The antioxidants may even help speed your morning after recovery!
Sweet Treats: This Holiday season, we found one recipe that really gave us something to celebrate. Try out Enjoy Life Food's Chocolate Hobgoblins recipe--they are amazing, and food allergy free! Of course, we chose to triple the recipe and roll them out in cute little 1" balls instead of goblin shapes, but that's just us! (The recipe also mentions adding shortening to the chocolate, which we left out and still had delicious results!)
Fortune Cookies: We just had to adapt AllRecipes.com's fortune cookie recipe for our New Year's Eve. Of course, we used our favorite gluten-free flour blend in place of regular wheat flour. And using the brilliant ingenuity of Gluten Free Girl's Shauna and Chef's substitution of coconut milk for heavy whipping cream, along with a standard substitution of margarine for butter, we also managed to make these mystic cookies dairy free! I am sure they will lead to plenty of entertainment when cracked open, though the recipe was still a bit hard to work with. If you have a gluten-free fortune cookie recipe, we'd love to hear it!
We at Gluten Free Fox wish you all a very Happy New Year and encourage you to drink--and eat, responsibly!
